笔筒平口直壁，筒身纹饰再现苏轼之《前赤壁赋》，运用浮雕技法，刻苏子与客泛舟于赤壁之上，江流波涌，山石峭立而磊落。扁舟上文士、僧道相谈甚欢，既有赤脚长须之摇橹人，亦有斟酒小童。只见远处江水浩渺，水光接天。云气氤氲之中，岸边树木枝繁叶茂，松枝蜿蜒，松针刻画细腻入微。画面内容丰富，诗意漫漫，一派叩弦而歌、其乐融融的景象。整器画面布局疏密有当，镂刻处深浅结合，更觉层次丰富。刀工、品相堪称完美，表面色泽温润，实为文房精雅之作。
