19th centuryPortraying Miroku Bosatsu (Maitreya), standing princely raiment with flowing scarves encircling his arms, his left hand displaying an amphora, the other now holding a Buddhist staff (shakujo), the face with inlaid eyes and framed by an elaborate gilt-metal diadem with a small model of a stupa and suspended strands of colored glass 'jewels', further glass beads ornamenting the gilt-metal necklace, all backed by a reticulated almond-form mandorla (repairs) and supported on a lotus pedestal raised on a stepped circular plinth (restorations).24in (61cm) height overall
