A large George III satinwood, tulipwood crossbanded and purplewood inlaid linen press
The demi-lune pediment painted with a fan and sunflower above a pair of panelled doors with re-entrant angles, enclosing five mahogany-lined slides, with two short and two long mahogany-lined drawers below, with two ivory plaques bearing: 'LADY LUDLOW COLLECTION' and '747', 141cm wide x 62cm deep x 234cm high, (55 1/2in wide x 24in deep x 92in high)
|The offered lot probably previously formed part of the Lady Ludlow collection which comprises an impressive array of predominantly 18th century English porcelain. These renowned porcelain items are now housed at the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, in Durham. However it is not clear how exactly this collection relates to the present linen press.
