Tibet, 13th century The Bodhisattva modelled seated in dhyanasana wearing a bejewelled dhoti, with four arms, two in manidharamudra, the other two grasping a snake and a rope respectively, the serene face topped with a five-pointed crown, all raised on a double-lotus throne. 18cm (7 1/8in) high
|Shadakshari Lokeshvara is the Bodhisattva of compassion (Avalokiteshvara) in his role as the lord of the six realms of existence - hell beings, hungry ghosts, animals, humans, demigods, and gods.
