19th centuryThe first of baluster form, carved with taotie mask motifs and rope twist borders, the neck flanked with buffalo head handles suspending loose rings, the domed lid with a foliate finial, together with the original chain, wood stand; the second miniature vase with Mughal-style foliate patterns, with loose-ring elephant head handles, integral stand and matching cover. The largest: 12.5cm (4 7/8in) high (6).
