A large Cologne/Frechen stoneware bellarmine (Bartmannskrug), mid 16th centuryApplied with a bearded mask and a border of acanthus leaves below the rim, above a circular medallion with the arms of Jülich-Kleve-Berg surrounded by a border of acanthus leaves, the sides with similar medallions and the arms of the city of Cologne, the body with scattered rosettes, 32.3cm high (section missing from the rim)注脚Similar bellarmines are in the Collection of the British Museum (illustrated in D. Gaimster, German Stoneware 1200-1900 (1997), no. 47, and in the Kustgewerbemuseum Cologne (illustrated by G. Reineking von Bock, Steinzeug (1986), no. 274).
