The bombé-form censer raised on tapering tripod feet and with loop handles rising above the rim, the body engraved with three large Chinese characters '張仙房' [the Daoist deity of fertility Zhang Xian] followed by a long list of donors and the maker.
26.5cm diameter, 19cm high, weight 9.91kg.注脚Inscribed '大清光绪甲申年', Jia Shen year in Guangxu period Qing Dynasty, for the year 1884. The long list of names of the individuals responsible for the commissioning of the censer mostly bear the suffix '氏', i.e. 'Mrs', which indicates this censor was dedicated to a deity associated with reproduction. The inscription ends with the manufacturing studio in Gusu District in Jiangsu Province.
