Attributed to Abraham Pietersz. van Calraet (Dordrecht 1642-1722) A vegetable seller oil on canvas 91.8 x 71.6cm (36 1/8 x 28 3/16in). Footnotes: Many still lifes in museums which are now given to Abraham Calraet had, like the present composition, once been thought to be by Aelbert Cuyp and we are grateful to Alan Chong for suggesting Abraham Calraet as a plausible attribution for this painting. The peaches are especially typical of his works, although later British artists also painted in this manner. The old woman in a straw hat is, if anything, more reminiscent of Jacob Cuyp, whom Calraet was also known to have emulated. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
