The Heuer Carrera is one of the most recognizable timepieces from the company with earlier series becoming some of the most sought-after vintage watches. The 2447N Carrera was created by Jack Heuer in 1960s, his obsession to keep a simplistic clean dial with high legibility, resulted in an uniform coloured dial with three register chronograph and an outer tension ring with 1/5 second demarcations. Vintage Carreras manufactured during this period are most sought-after, similarly vintage Rolex Daytonas. Both watches are often compared with each due to their striking similarities, as they are both debuted in 1963, and their dials and movements were made from the same manufacturer.
The present Lot 906 – Reference 2447N is offered from the original owner and the first to appear on the market. This very early and extremely rare example of the Carrera features the unified black on black dial, and only the early series possessed this uniform coloured dial. It is fitted with the well-established 72 Valjoux calibre, arguably the finest manual-winding chronograph movement. Additionally, this present example comes with a stainless steel "double-beads-of-rice" bracelet crafted by Gay Frères – the famous bracelet maker.
Possessing all the rare configurations and being historically important, this timepiece is one of the rarest Carreras, making it a highly coveted timepiece for any watch connoisseurs.
