Circa 1800 Elaborately detailed with a large gathering of scholars in a terraced garden setting, variously, playing musical instruments, playing go, practising calligraphy and painting, a number of boys in attendance and a goatherd in the background, the overhanging gilt lacquered trees and shrubs decorated in coral, agate, amber, pearl, kingfisher feather and other hardstones, the figures and garden setting in polychrome and gilt decorated ivory, set on a carved hongmu stand, fitted perspex cover and storage case. 52cm wide x 43cm high x 31.5cm deep (20./1/2in x 17in x 12.3/8in) including the stand.
