By Masayoshi, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Raised on three tripod feet, the central round ivory panel boldly decorated in typical Shibayama inlay with birds flying and standing around a large ikebana basket brimming over with peonies, wisteria and cherry blossoms surrounded by eight rectangular lobes of delicate silver filigree scrolls and tendrils, set each bearing a kidney-shaped panel applied in coloured enamels representing different seasonal flowers; the base of nashiji and signed with chiselled characters Masayoshi kizamu (Chased by Masayoshi) within a silver rectangular reserve. 5.5cm x 23cm (2 1/8in x 9in).
