By Yabu Meizan (1853-1934), Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Finely decorated in enamels and gilt with two lobed elongated panels, one depicting a landscape with sailing boats on a lake before distant mountains, a fisherman walking beneath willow branches in the foreground, the second panel with a New Year celebration scene of boys flying kites, girls playing cards and figures admiring cut pine saplings, all on a ground of closely clustered peony blossoms, the foot with six roundels of alternating daisy and cherry heads; signed on the base with a gilt seal Yabu Meizan. 18cm (7 1/16in) high.
