Heuer. A rare stainless steel manual wind chronograph wristwatch Model: Skipper 'Skipperera' Reference: 7753 Date: Circa 1970 Movement: 17-jewel Valjoux Cal.7730 manual wind Dial: Sunburst blue, applied polished faceted baton hour markers, black outer 1/5th second divisions on raised white surround, subsidiary dials at 3 and 9 for constant seconds and green, mint and orange 15 minute recording, pointed baton hands with luminous inserts, white chronograph hand Case: Polished round, screw down back, signed crown flanked by twin pushers Strap/Bracelet: Black leather Buckle/Clasp: Signed steel buckle Signed: Case & dial Size: 36mm Accompaniments: TAG Heuer service case, TAG Heuer service paperwork dated January 2021 Footnotes: The Skipper Carrera nicknamed the 'Skipperera', was the first of the skipper models to be made. Regarded for its beautiful hues, the watch's design is inspired by 1967 America's Cup winner, 'The Intrepid' which had several Heuer chronographs on board. To commemorate the win, Jack Heuer commissioned the 7754 (based off of the 7753), which today remains one of the brand's rarest and most coveted watches. The most notable characteristic of the watch is the colouring, which is directly taken from 'The Intrepid': a deep metallic blue dial, mint green subsidiary seconds and the iconic tri-colour green, mint green, and orange 15 minute count-down register. The distinctive mint green comes from the deck of 'The Intrepid' after an MIT study deemed it the colour least likely to produce distracting reflections.
