生於中國江蘇北部的徐家洪望族，1936年畢業於上海美專。原本計畫赴法學習繪畫，卻因時代戰亂，1949年來台落腳高雄，生活困頓，幾經波折，終於來到宜蘭羅東中學教書，奠定他在台灣的穩定生活，也重拾繪畫的樂趣。1973年從學校退休後，更全心全意投入最愛的繪畫創作。曾獲中華民國畫學會金爵獎，國家文藝獎。作品獲台灣省立美術館、台北市立美術館典藏。
本拍品為王氏設色作品，存世數量不多。
