王一亭是清末民国时期上海知名书画家、实业家、社会活动家，对海派书画艺术的繁荣和对外交流贡献卓绝，吴昌硕赠诗王一亭曾有：“天惊地怪生一亭，笔铸生铁墨寒雨。” 虽然在艺术上，王一亭没有吴昌硕、齐白石那样巨大的地位，但他兼画家、慈善家、艺术活动家、实业家、艺术赞助人为一的综合身份所产生的影响力，尤其是推介吴昌硕的巨大贡献上，却无人可比。
当时铜雀未魂销，秋圃年年锁二乔。偌问淡妆浓抹意,为谁啼笑为谁娇？丁卯冬初白龙山人写。
