The set comprises of fifteen polychrome clay arhat figures, each of different posture and expression; one is in meditative posture, wearing folded robe, the face painted white with calm expression; one is shown laying on a rock and resting on his left forearm; one is holding a peach on his right hand, his face shown with ferocious expression; Each figure is polychromed in various pigments, including red, green, blue, brown,yellow,etc, some with loss of pigments; Each figure is supported on a wood stand. 16th century.Provenance: Private collection, Los Angeles
