Small Powder Blue-glazed Water PotChina, late Qing/Republic period, beehive-form, with a rounded mouth rim without neck, resting on a bisque foot ring, white-glazed interior, a double ring mark on white base, with wood stand, ht. 1 3/4 in. Provenance: A family heirloom collection mostly formed in the 1900-20s by Dr. Frederick Whiting (1821-1946). Dr. Whiting was a philanthropic otologist/professor of Clinical Surgery in Otology at Cornell University who authored the book, Modern Mastoid Operation. He was also known as a collector of American painting, medallic art, and Asian porcelain.
