(19.2 x 14.2cm); folio 11 x 8 1/4in. (27.8 x 20.8cm.)Hafiz Salih Naili Efendi was the son of Kazzaz Şehabüddin Agha and was born in AH 1239/1823-24 AD in Manastir (Bitola). He studied with ‘Ali ‘Ulvi Efendi. He went to Istanbul to further his education and while he was there earned his living by copying the Qur’an and the Şifa-i Şerif. He then went to Egypt where he taught Persian and calligraphy. He died there in AH 1293/1876-77 AD. He was also a poet of some fame.
