艾中信，男，1915年10月生于上海。1936年考入中央大学艺术系。1940年毕业后留校任教。曾任中国美术学院副研究员。历任中央美术学院教授、油画系主任、副院长、中国美术家协会理事、 曾为上海《时代日报》编辑《艺术》双周刊，并在《时代日报》及《民主》（周刊）发表 漫画。代表作有《崇文门外》《雪里送炭》《紫禁城残雪》"画中有诗"，被李可染评价为"中国油画墨"。
