A rare case for eye-glasses Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century Oval, fashioned from same (rayskin) and decorated with a continuous design of a large Komodo dragon inlaid in dark brown sharkskin, the eyes inlaid in pale horn with dark pupils and the cord runners silver, the interior of dark brown lacquer with a design of scrolling flowers in gold and colored hiramaki-e, signed Chohei with a red-lacquer seal; fitted with a peach-stone ojime, carved with monkeys in peach trees, signed Gyokusen Tomochika and with a kao 7 1/8in (18.1cm) high
