Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century Decorated in silver and russet-brown takamaki-e with two tsuba in imitation russet-iron and shakudo nanako, all against a silver-brown tsuchime lacquer ground, the interior cases okibirame on black lacquer, obscurely signed on the bottom case; fitted with a lacquer bead ojime and a matching hako netsuke decorated with a tsuba 3in (7.5cm) high
