By Genryusai Seiya, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century The large trumpeting beast modelled fending off two snarling tigers, stamping one tiger underfoot at the front, whilst another attacks from behind clambering over his back, the mammal's skin carefully textured to resemble its crinkled skin, signed on the elephant's belly Seiya saku (Made by Seiya) within a rectangular reserve. 19cm x 29.5cm (7½in x 11 5/8in).
