Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Both decorated in enamels and gilt, the first a smaller squat ribbed section embellished with vertical bands of foliate, fragmented rinzu (textile-weave) and geometric patterns alternating with plain cream crackled ground bands, with an engraved silvered-metal handle, unsigned, 7.7cm (3in) high; the second teapot with two large lobed panels, the first depicting warriors on the shores of a lake discussing battle strategy, the other a parody of several karako (Chinese boys) in military guise outside a large residence, with a bamboo handle, unsigned, 16.5cm (6½in) high.
