By Kinkozan, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century The spherical flattened body finely decorated with two large lobed panels, one enclosing a vibrant figure scene in a plum garden depicting elegantly clad ladies and other attendants welcoming guests, the partially concealed veranda of the house in the background, the other panel depicting a family of fowl foraging for food in a garden with seasonal flowers in full bloom, birds in flight around them, the shoulder moulded with plum blossoms in low relief at the end of two handles in the form of branches, the rim shaped as furled leaf; signed on the base with a gilt seal Kinkozan and an impressed seal Kinkozan. 18.2cm (7 1/8in) high.
