A SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF LÜ DONGBIN 17th/18th century Carved as the long-bearded Daoist Immortal standing dressed in a scholar's cap and layered garments tied at the waist, incised with cloud and wave motifs and embellished with red and black pigment, one hand holding a fly-whisk and the other pendent by the side within the long sleeve, bearing a sword on his back, with two drilled holes to the bottoms for fitting, wood stand, 22cm (8 5/8in) high; together with a soapstone standing figure of a Qing Court official, 19th century, dressed in official's surcoat, court beads, and an official's winter hat with feather attachment at the top, 11.2cm (4 3/8in) high.
