AN EMBROIDERED SILK APRICOT-GROUND HANGING, A SILK 'BUDDHIST DEITY' RED-GROUND ALTAR FRONTAL, AND A BROWN VELVET-GROUND EMBROIDERED FRAGMENT Qing Dynasty The apricot-ground hanging finely embroidered in coloured silks with a central medallion enclosing multi-coloured phoenixes within a profusion of blossoming peonies, all reserved on a ground of scrolling flowers and leafy tendrils and within a border of further blossoming flowers and foliage, 266cm (104 6/8in) x 262cm (103 2/8in); the red-ground silk pleated altar front embroidered with various Buddhas, 216cm (85in) x 110cm x (43 2/8in); and the brown-ground velvet panel embroidered with an elegant multi-storeyed pavilion floating amidst tumultuous waves, 53cm (20 7/8in) x 78cm (30 6/8in).
