Similar statues of Tudigong in wood are rare. However, similar examples are found in other materials such as porcelain; see for example, a similar blanc-de-Chine figure, also seated on a low throne and wearing a similar four-sided hat, illustrated by J.Ayers, Blanc de Chine, Divine Images in Porcelain, New York, 2002, p.97, no.48, where the figure is identified as Tudi Shen. Another similar figure in the Fujian Provincial Museum is illustrated in Dehua Wares, Fung Ping Shan Museum, Hong Kong, 1990, no.120. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
